{"id":38407,"date":"2009-08-30T10:22:13","date_gmt":"2009-08-30T10:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vmengine.net\/2009\/08\/30\/ubuntu-cloud-computing-support\/"},"modified":"2025-05-23T17:07:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T17:07:22","slug":"ubuntu-cloud-computing-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/temp_new.vmenginelab.com\/en\/2009\/08\/30\/ubuntu-cloud-computing-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Ubuntu Cloud Computing support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:it--><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-362\" title=\"Eucalyptus\" src=\"https:\/\/temp_new.vmenginelab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/eucalyptus1.jpg\" alt=\"Eucalyptus\" width=\"307\" height=\"79\" srcset=\"http:\/\/temp_new.vmenginelab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/eucalyptus1.jpg 307w, http:\/\/temp_new.vmenginelab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/eucalyptus1-300x77.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-363\" title=\"Ubuntu\" src=\"https:\/\/temp_new.vmenginelab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/ubuntu1.jpg\" alt=\"Ubuntu\" width=\"216\" height=\"68\"><\/p>\n<p>For some time we have been observing the <a href=\"http:\/\/open.eucalyptus.com\/\">Eucalyptus<\/a> project, precisely since it was an open only project, there is also a recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eucalyptus.com\/\">commercial <\/a>section to offer companies the support to switch their datacenter to Cloud Computing logic.<\/p>\n<p>The project was born as an emulation of Amazon&#8217;s Cloud Computing infrastructure, in the sense that it makes it possible to privately recreate the services that Amazon Web Service provides to the public, with the same APIs that are currently used on Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously it cannot recreate all the services, currently it is limited to emulating the major services: EC2 S3 EBS, supporting Xen and KVM hypervisors<\/p>\n<p>Of considerable interest is the attention and bet that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canonical.com\/\">Canonical <\/a>, the company that supports the development of Ubuntu, towards the Eucalyptus project, supporting it and providing commercial support to the development of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\/products\/whatisubuntu\/serveredition\/cloud\">Private Cloud Computing<\/a> for companies, this year will also be present at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vmworld2009.com\/\">VMworld2009 in San Francisco<\/a> which will be held in these days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\/products\/whatisubuntu\/serveredition\">Ubuntu Server 9.04<\/a> in addition to supporting Eucalyptus, also natively supports the Amazon Web Services API, thus making it easier for administrators to manage Cloud Computing services and thus opening the door to the creation of a true Hybrid Cloud between Eucalyptus and AWS.
